The University of Victoria is a top-ranked research university located in one of the best places to live
on Earth. World-class surfing, skiing, and hiking are all within an easy drive, and culinary and cultural amenities abound within Victoria itself.
The climate is extremely mild: the average summer high is 20 C (68 F), the average winter low is 3 C
(37 F), and we get less rain and more sun than both Vancouver and Seattle.
Undergraduate students at the University of Victoria have many options for doing research in our group as part of the CHEM 298/299/398/399/498/499 series of courses, as well as summer research through the NSERC USRA or UVic SURA programs. If you're interested in checking the group out for a term, or digging in for a longer project, please contact Prof. Leitch with 'CHEM x9x', 'NSERC USRA' or 'UVic SURA' in the subject line, depending on your specific interest.
Undergraduates from other universities in Canada interested in our work can also take advantage of the NSERC USRA program - contact Prof. Leitch to discuss this and other options.

Prospective graduate students must apply to the University of Victoria, but can also contact Prof. Leitch directly prior to submitting the application to determine if positions will be available for the desired start date. Emails to Prof. Leitch should have 'Application for Grad Studies' in the subject line, and include both a CV and an unofficial transcript. The UVic Department of Chemistry Graduate Secretary can also answer questions and guide prospective students through the application process. More information is also available through the Department of Chemistry website.

Prospective postdoctoral researchers are welcome to contact Prof. Leitch about submitting applications to external funding sources, such as NSERC PDF and Mitacs Elevate.
